Early Life
Alexander Gerko was born on December 3, 1979, in Moscow, Russia, to a Russian Jewish family. He demonstrated exceptional talent in mathematics from a young age, participating in city-wide competitions. Gerko pursued higher education at Moscow State University, earning a Bachelor's, Master of Science, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics. He also holds a Master of Economics from the New Economic School.
Rise to Success
Gerko's career began in 2004 at Deutsche Bank in London, trading equities. He transitioned to foreign exchange (FX) trading, honing his quantitative trading skills. In 2009, he joined GSA Capital, a UK-based hedge fund, where he led FX trading. In January 2015, he founded XTX Markets, an algorithmic trading company specializing in equities, fixed income, FX, and commodities. Under his leadership as Co-CEO, XTX Markets has become a major player in global financial markets.
