Brian Lucas Roberts was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 28, 1959, into a Jewish family. He is the son of Ralph J. Roberts, the founder of Comcast Corporation, and Suzanne Fleisher Roberts. Roberts graduated from Germantown Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1981.
Rise to Success
Roberts began his career at Comcast in 1981 and rose through the ranks, becoming President in 1990 at age 31. He has since led Comcast's transformation into a global media and technology company. In 1997, he secured a $1 billion investment from Microsoft, which boosted the expansion of Comcast's broadband network. Roberts became CEO in 2002 and Chairman in 2004. He has overseen major acquisitions, including NBCUniversal in 2011 and Sky in 2018.
