Early Life
Binod Chaudhary was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 14, 1955, into a Marwari family. His grandfather, Bhuramal Das Chaudhary, started a textile business, which his father later expanded. Chaudhary initially planned to study chartered accountancy in India but took over the family business at 18 due to his father's illness.
Rise to Success
Chaudhary's career began with a textile business. He later founded Arun Emporium, a successful retail store. His vision extended beyond, introducing the first Suzuki cars to Nepal and bringing National Panasonic to assemble radios. A key moment was the introduction of Wai Wai noodles, a product that has become synonymous with the Chaudhary Group's success.
Key Business Strategies
Chaudhary's strategy involved diversification, expanding into consumer goods, hospitality (including partnerships with Taj Hotels), financial services, education, and real estate. He built a global presence with factories in India, Serbia, and Bangladesh. He has also focused on relationship-building, with leaders and influencers globally.
Philanthropy
Chaudhary is actively involved in philanthropy through the Chaudhary Foundation, supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nepal. He donated over $2.5 million to rebuild schools and homes after the earthquake and provided relief efforts, including Wai Wai noodles.
