Early Life
Binod Kumar Chaudhary was born on April 14, 1955, in Kathmandu, Nepal, into a Marwari family. His grandfather, Bhuramal Das Chaudhary, migrated from Rajasthan, India, to Nepal in the 19th century and started a textile business. Binod's father continued to develop the textile business.
Rise to Success
At the age of 18, Binod took over his family's business due to his father's illness. He expanded the textile business and established Arun Emporium, a successful retail store. He is the chairman and president of the Chaudhary Group (CG), which has interests in various sectors, including financial services, consumer goods, education, hospitality, energy, and real estate. His major assets include a controlling stake in Nepal's Nabil Bank and CG Foods, maker of the popular Wai Wai noodles.
Key Business Strategies
Chaudhary's key business strategies include diversification and global expansion. He expanded CG Corp Global internationally, particularly in hospitality through partnerships with brands like Marriott and Taj. He also focused on building the Wai Wai noodle brand into a global success. Chaudhary has shown great acumen in making strategic moves, such as acquiring a controlling stake in Nabil Bank and founding Cinnovation Group.
Philanthropy
Binod Chaudhary is deeply involved in philanthropy through the Chaudhary Foundation, established in 1995. The foundation focuses on initiatives to improve lives, strengthen communities, and sustainably develop Nepal. It supports education, healthcare, disaster relief, and women's empowerment.
