Early Life
Binod Chaudhary was born on April 14, 1955, in Kathmandu, Nepal, to a Marwari family with roots in India. His grandfather migrated from Rajasthan, India, and started a textile business in Nepal. Chaudhary's father expanded the textile business and opened Nepal's first department store, Arun Emporium. At the age of 18, Chaudhary took over the family business when his father became ill, changing his initial plans to study chartered accountancy in India.
Rise to Success
Chaudhary's entrepreneurial journey began with the establishment of Copper Floor, a successful discotheque in 1973. He expanded his business by making a deal with National Panasonic in 1979. His breakthrough came with the introduction of Wai Wai noodles in 1984, which became a bestselling product. In 1995, he acquired a controlling stake in Nabil Bank. Chaudhary was recognized as Nepal's first billionaire by Forbes in 2013.

Chaudhary's business strategy involved diversifying into various sectors, including FMCG, hospitality (with partnerships with Taj Hotels), banking, real estate, and more. His expansion strategy included investing in property abroad and establishing factories in multiple countries to supply Wai Wai noodles.
Philanthropy
Binod Chaudhary is actively involved in philanthropy through the Chaudhary Foundation, which supports sustainable development goals in Nepal, disaster relief, education, and healthcare. He organized relief efforts after the 2015 Nepal earthquake and has donated over $2.5 million to rebuild schools and homes. The foundation also partnered with the United Nations Development Programme for the advancement and promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nepal.
