Early Life and Education
Charles Liang was born in Chiayi, Taiwan. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and later earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. As a student, Liang showed an interest in medical technologies, working on developing systems to help diagnose illnesses.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Liang briefly taught at his alma mater before leaving to pursue his passions. He worked on a chip design for a healthcare company that utilized artificial intelligence, which he called an "AI Processor". From July 1991 to August 1993, Liang was the president and chief design engineer of Micro Center Computer, a motherboard design and manufacturing company. In 1993, Liang co-founded Supermicro with his wife, Sara Liu. Supermicro began as a five-person operation.
Key Business Strategies
Liang has been developing server system architectures and technologies for over three decades. Supermicro focuses on innovation, quickly responding to market needs, and delivering innovative solutions. The company expanded its product line with storage solutions, network components, and integrated systems, gaining recognition globally. Under Liang's guidance, Supermicro evolved into a total IT solutions provider for Enterprise, Cloud, AI, and 5G/Edge markets. Supermicro has expanded manufacturing globally, with operations in the US, Taiwan, and the Netherlands.

Liang is the founder and CEO of the Green Earth Foundation.
