Bastian Nominacher was born on November 15, 1984, in Germany. He studied at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he met his future co-founders, Alexander Rinke and Martin Klenk. Nominacher pursued studies in Finance and Information Management and earned a Master's degree in 2011.

Nominacher, along with Alexander Rinke and Martin Klenk, co-founded Celonis in 2011 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich. Celonis started as a process mining project, aiming to apply process mining techniques to real-world enterprise data to visualize and optimize business processes. Nominacher and his co-founders started the company without external funding for the first five years. Celonis developed an Execution Management System (EMS) using AI and machine learning to help organizations visualize and streamline operations.
