B. Partha Saradhi Reddy was born on March 6, 1954, in Kandukuru village, Khammam District, Telangana. He holds an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad. His academic background in chemistry provided a strong foundation for his future endeavors in the pharmaceutical industry.
Rise to Success
Reddy founded the Hetero Group of Companies in 1993. Under his leadership, Hetero has grown to become a leading pharmaceutical company, particularly known for its affordable anti-retroviral drugs, playing a significant role during the HIV/AIDS crisis. Reddy leveraged his expertise in synthetic chemistry and leadership to build one of the best generic API companies in the world.
Key Business Strategies
Hetero's success is attributed to several key strategies. Reddy focused on research and development to build world-class infrastructure, establishing global licensing partnerships to expand the company's portfolio. The company has a diverse portfolio of over 200 products ranging from cancer to immunology to diabetes. Reddy's efforts also included actualizing the manufacturing agreements for critical drugs like Remdesivir, Molnupiravir, and the Sputnik V vaccine to contribute to the global fight against COVID-19.
Philanthropy
Reddy is recognized for making corporate social responsibility an integral part of Hetero's mission. He established charitable trusts, including the Sri Krishna Sindhuri Charitable Trust and the Sai Spoorthi Charitable Trust, and has been involved in initiatives providing access to education, healthcare, water, and eye care to underserved communities.
