Early Life and Education
Assaf Rappaport was born in Israel on August 28, 1983. He demonstrated an early aptitude for academics, graduating from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, and mathematics. Rappaport furthered his education at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he earned a master's degree in computer science.
Rise to Success
Rappaport's journey began with military service in the IDF, where he served in elite technological units. After his military service, he briefly worked at McKinsey & Company as a consultant before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey. In 2012, Rappaport co-founded Adallom, a cloud access security broker (CASB), which was acquired by Microsoft in 2015 for approximately $320 million. Following the acquisition, he became the head of Microsoft's Israel Research and Development (R&D) Center.
In January 2020, Rappaport, along with Ami Luttwak, Roy Reznik, and Yinon Costica, co-founded Wiz, a cloud security company. Wiz quickly gained traction, achieving unicorn status in mid-2021. By May 2024, Wiz was valued at $12 billion. In March 2025, Google's parent company, Alphabet Inc., announced its intention to acquire Wiz for approximately $32 billion.
