Early Life and Education
Assaf Rappaport was born in Israel on August 28, 1983. He showed an early interest in science and technology. Rappaport graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a bachelor's degree in computer science, physics, and mathematics. He furthered his education at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, earning a master's degree in computer science. During his studies, he was selected for the Talpiot program, an elite Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit, where he received rigorous academic and leadership training.
Rise to Success
Rappaport's career began with military service in the IDF. He then worked briefly as a consultant at McKinsey & Company before venturing into cybersecurity. In 2012, Rappaport co-founded Adallom, a cloud access security broker (CASB). Adallom was acquired by Microsoft in July 2015 for approximately $320 million. After the acquisition, Rappaport led Microsoft's Israel Research and Development Center. In January 2020, Rappaport co-founded Wiz with Ami Luttwak, Roy Reznik, and Yinon Costica. Wiz emerged from stealth mode in December 2020 with a $100 million Series A funding round. By May 2024, Wiz had achieved a $12 billion valuation. The company's success led to an offer from Google to acquire Wiz for $32 billion, which was accepted in March 2025.
