Early Life and Education

Andrei Komarov was born on October 11, 1966, in Ozyorsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering in 1990 after serving in the Soviet Army from 1984 to 1986.

Rise to Success

Komarov's career began in the late 1980s, working at the Moscow Satyricon Theater. He transitioned to the business world in the early 1990s, managing and co-owning several companies involved in metal exports. A pivotal moment came in 1998 when he acquired a controlling stake in the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe). Under his leadership, ChelPipe became a leading producer of steel pipes in Russia, serving the oil and gas, construction, and other sectors. In March 2021, Komarov sold his 86.54% stake in ChelPipe to TMK.

Key Business Strategies

Komarov's success is attributed to strategic investments and a focus on the steel pipe industry. He played a key role in ChelPipe's modernization and expansion, which helped the company capture a significant share of the Russian market and expand into international markets. He also served on the Board of Directors of Pervouralsky Novotrubny Zavod.

Philanthropy

Andrei Komarov has contributed to various philanthropic initiatives, including the construction of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ozersk and the building of the first positron emission tomography (PET) center in Chelyabinsk.
