Alain Taravella was born on May 24, 1948, in Falaise, Calvados, France. He showed an early interest in real estate, which would later define his career. Taravella graduated from HEC Paris in 1971. During his studies, he financed his education by engaging in real estate transactions, specifically the sale of apartments.
Rise to Success
In 1975, Taravella joined the Brémond group as head of the leisure division. When the group became Pierre & Vacances, he became CEO in 1985. In 1994, he founded Altarea, a company focused on shopping center development. Taravella took advantage of the downturn in the real estate market to acquire land. He worked on the Bercy Village development project in 1999. Altarea was listed on the stock exchange in 2004. In 2007, Altarea acquired Cogedim, which expanded Altarea's portfolio.
