Agustín Coppel Luken was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, in 1961. He is the son of Enrique Coppel Tamayo, who founded Grupo Coppel in 1941. From a young age, he was immersed in the family business, learning about commerce and customer service.

Agustín Coppel Luken holds a degree in Marketing from Tecnológico de Monterrey. He has also completed studies in Human Development, Senior Management, and Quality Management. He has been the Chairman and CEO of Grupo Coppel since 2008. Under his leadership, Grupo Coppel has expanded significantly, growing from 634 stores to over 1,700 branches in Mexico. This growth was achieved through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. Coppel has transformed into an omnichannel ecosystem integrating physical stores, digital platforms, and financial services.
