Early Life
Yusaku Maezawa was born on November 22, 1975, in Kamagaya, Japan. He attended Waseda Jitsugyo High School, where he formed a hardcore punk band called Switch Style. After graduating, he moved to the United States with a girlfriend and began collecting CDs and records, which became the foundation for his future business ventures.
Rise to Success
In 1998, Maezawa launched Start Today, initially a mail-order album business. He transitioned the company to an online platform and expanded into clothing sales by 2000. In 2004, he opened Zozotown, an online fashion retail platform, which quickly gained popularity. Start Today became a publicly traded company in 2010. Maezawa introduced the ZOZO custom-fit clothing brand and ZOZOSUIT in 2018, further revolutionizing the fashion industry.

He also introduced innovative concepts like the ZOZOSUIT for custom-fit clothing, which, despite initial success, was later discontinued. In 2019, Maezawa resigned as CEO of Zozo and sold most of his stake to Yahoo Japan.
