Early Life
Todd Lawrence Boehly was born on September 20, 1973, in Bethesda, Maryland. His grandparents were German immigrants. He attended Landon School in Bethesda, graduating in 1991. Boehly's father was an engineer, and his mother was a first-grade teacher.
Rise to Success
Boehly earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the College of William & Mary in 1996. He began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston, followed by J.H. Whitney & Company. In 2001, Boehly joined Guggenheim Partners, where he launched the firm's credit investing business. He became president of Guggenheim in 2011. In 2015, Boehly founded Eldridge Industries, a holding company with investments in various sectors.
Key Business Strategies
Boehly's strategies involve acquiring and scaling businesses. He built a $60 billion credit empire at Guggenheim. At Eldridge Industries, he has invested in insurance, real estate, media, sports, and technology. He has made significant investments in sports, including stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chelsea FC. In December 2024, Eldridge Industries announced the launch of a $74 billion asset manager and insurance holding company.
Philanthropy
Boehly and his wife, Katie, established the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance at William & Mary. They also support research for epilepsy and prostate cancer, as well as The Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream and the Focused Ultrasound Foundation.
