Early Life
Samvel Karapetyan was born on August 18, 1965, in Kalinino (now Tashir), Armenia. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1986. After completing his education, he moved to Russia in the 1990s.
Rise to Success
Karapetyan's career began in the real estate sector. He started managing a shopping center project. In 1997, he became the president of Kalugaglavsnab OAO, a logistics service provider. His major success came with the establishment of the Tashir Group in 1999, which grew into a large conglomerate with over 200 companies. He made strategic acquisitions during the financial crisis to expand his portfolio. Karapetyan has consistently been recognized as one of the wealthiest ethnic Armenians in the world.
