Early Life
Regine Leibinger was born on September 28, 1963, in Stuttgart, Germany. She comes from a family with a strong entrepreneurial background; her family owns the machine tool manufacturer Trumpf GmbH + Co. KG. Her father, Berthold Leibinger, significantly influenced her understanding of business and entrepreneurship. Leibinger's grandfather was an art dealer which helped shape her appreciation for art and architecture.
Education and Career
Leibinger studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin and earned a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. In 1993, she co-founded the architectural practice Barkow Leibinger in Berlin with Frank Barkow. The firm has worked on diverse projects, from industrial buildings and master plans to residential projects and exhibitions. Notable projects include the Biosphere in Potsdam, the Campus Restaurant in Ditzingen, and the Tour Total office high-rise in Berlin. Leibinger also taught at the Architectural Association in London and the Harvard University. From 2006 to 2018, she was a Professor at Technische Universität Berlin.
