Phongthep Chiaravanont is a member of the Chearavanont family, which founded and controls the Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group. The CP Group's origin dates back to 1921 when his grandfather started a seed shop in Bangkok. He studied avian sciences at the University of California, Davis.
