Early Life and Education
Noam Gottesman was born in May 1961 in the United Kingdom, to a Jewish family. His father, Dov Gottesman, was the president of the Israel Museum. Gottesman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1986.
Rise to Success
Gottesman began his career at Goldman Sachs' London office, eventually becoming an executive director managing global equity portfolios. In 1995, he co-founded GLG Partners with Pierre Lagrange and Jonathan Green. GLG Partners grew rapidly, managing $24.6 billion and becoming a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange in November 2007. In 2010, Gottesman and his partners sold GLG Partners to Man Group for $1.6 billion. He remained co-CEO until 2012 and then became the non-executive chairman for GLG's US business. Today, he is the CEO of TOMS Capital.
