Early Life and Education
Mike Speiser was born in 1971 in Palo Alto, California. He received a Bachelor of Arts/Science from the University of Arizona and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1998.
Career and Achievements
Speiser's career has focused on the technology sector, particularly in venture capital and software. Since 2008, he has been a Managing Partner at Sutter Hill Ventures. Speiser is recognized for pioneering the "company creation" model, identifying tech themes, and building companies from the ground up.
His most significant achievement is as the founding CEO of Snowflake from 2012 to 2014. He became a billionaire after the company's IPO in September 2020, which was the largest software IPO at the time. He owns a bit more than a 1% stake in Snowflake’s stock. Speiser's investments include startups like Lacework, Sila Nanotechnologies, Clumio, Ghost, and Sigma Computing.
Speiser has also served as a faculty lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
