Early Life
Maksym Lytvyn was born on December 3, 1977, in Kyiv, Ukraine. He received his basic education there and later graduated from the International Christian University in Kyiv with a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems. Lytvyn later moved to the United States and obtained an MBA in marketing and finance from Vanderbilt University. He currently holds Canadian citizenship and resides in San Francisco.
Rise to Success
Max Lytvyn co-founded Grammarly in 2009 with Alex Shevchenko and Dmytro Lider. The three Ukrainian-born entrepreneurs previously worked together on MyDropBox, a plagiarism detection service. Lytvyn currently serves as the head of revenue at Grammarly. The company's mission is to help people communicate better.

Grammarly initially focused on students, but quickly gained popularity in business, journalism, and the tech sector. In 2021, the company raised $200 million at a $13 billion valuation from investors. Grammarly adopted a freemium model in 2015, which significantly grew its user base.
