Kevin Marchetti was born on May 30, 1979. He graduated from Duke University in 2000 with a degree in Economics and a minor in History. During his time at Duke, Marchetti was the head manager for the Duke Men's basketball team under Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Marchetti began his career in Morgan Stanley's investment banking group in San Francisco. Later, he worked with Ron Burkle and The Yucaipa Companies, where he invested the Yucaipa Funds. In 2008, Marchetti co-founded Bay Grove, a real estate private equity firm. He is also the Co-Executive Chairman of Lineage Logistics, the largest temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics REIT globally. Lineage Logistics has expanded to include over 475 warehouses across 18 countries.
