John Joseph Fisher was born on June 1, 1961, in San Francisco, California. He is the son of Donald Fisher and Doris F. Fisher, the founders of Gap Inc. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1983. He then earned a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.
