Jayshree Ullal was born in London, England, on March 27, 1961, to parents of Indian origin. She spent her early childhood in New Delhi, India, where she attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary. Her father, a physicist, worked to strengthen academic collaborations between Indian and British universities. She moved to the United States at the age of 16 and pursued higher education.
Rise to Success
Ullal's career began in the 1980s with engineering and strategic development positions at Fairchild Semiconductor and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). In 1988, she joined Ungermann-Bass as director of internetworking. In 1993, she became VP of Marketing at Crescendo Communications, which was acquired by Cisco Systems, marking Cisco's first acquisition in the switching market. She subsequently spent 15 years at Cisco, rising to Senior Vice President of the Data Center, Switching and Services Group. In 2008, Ullal was recruited to lead Arista Networks as CEO and President. Under her leadership, Arista Networks went public in 2014.
