Early Life
Fatih Ozmen was born in Turkey and later immigrated to the United States to pursue his education. He was a former Turkish National Cycling Champion. He earned his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, specializing in navigation systems.
Rise to Success
Ozmen's career took a pivotal turn in 1981 when he joined Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC). In 1994, he and his wife, Eren Ozmen, acquired the company, then a small high-tech startup with just 20 employees. Through strategic vision and leadership, the Ozmens transformed SNC into a multi-billion dollar global leader in aerospace and defense. They achieved this through 20 strategic mergers and acquisitions.
Key Business Strategies
Under Ozmen's leadership, SNC has focused on providing innovative, cost-effective solutions. The company's strategy has been to expand the industrial base and deliver open architecture platforms. In April 2021, SNC spun off its space capabilities into a new commercial space company, Sierra Space. In April 2024, SNC won a $13.1 billion contract from the U.S. Air Force.
