Early Life
Romesh T. Wadhwani was born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1947, shortly before the partition of India. His family moved to India soon after. At the age of two, he contracted polio, which presented lifelong physical challenges. Despite these obstacles, Wadhwani excelled academically.
Education and Early Career
Wadhwani received a Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and later earned Master's and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He founded Compuguard Corporation in 1972, and later founded Aspect Development, Inc., in 1991.
Rise to Success
Wadhwani founded Aspect Development, which was acquired by i2 Technologies in 2000 for $9.3 billion in stock. He then founded Symphony Technology Group (STG) in 2002. In 2017, STG was reorganized as STG Partners. Wadhwani is the chairman of SymphonyAI, an enterprise AI firm. He has also invested $1 billion in predictive and generative AI SaaS company SymphonyAI.

Wadhwani's strategies include founding and leading multiple technology companies, with a focus on software and AI. He founded or co-founded more than 40 technology companies, scaling several into multi-billion-dollar enterprises through strategic investments and operational expertise in areas like enterprise software and predictive analytics. Philanthropy
Wadhwani is known for his philanthropic efforts through the Wadhwani Foundation, established in 2001. The foundation's mission is to accelerate job creation and economic development in emerging economies. He has contributed over $1 billion to the foundation and has pledged 80% of his remaining assets to it.
