Early Life

Yevgeny Valentinovich Kaspersky, known globally as Eugene Kaspersky, was born on October 4, 1965, in Novorossiysk, Russia. From a young age, Kaspersky displayed a keen interest in mathematics and technology. He excelled in mathematics competitions and attended a specialized boarding school affiliated with Moscow University.

Rise to Success

Kaspersky's career took a pivotal turn in 1989 when his computer was infected with the Cascade virus. This experience ignited his passion for cybersecurity. He began studying computer viruses and developed tools to combat them. In 1991, he left the Soviet military intelligence to focus on his antivirus product. This eventually led to the founding of Kaspersky Lab in 1997. Natalya Kaspersky, his then-wife, played a key role in the early days, serving as CEO while Eugene led research and development.
