Early Life
Dustin Aaron Moskovitz was born in Gainesville, Florida, on May 22, 1984, and grew up in Ocala, Florida. He attended Vanguard High School, graduating with an IB Diploma. He then enrolled at Harvard University as an economics major.
Rise to Success
Moskovitz co-founded Facebook in February 2004 with Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes. He served as the company's first CTO and Vice President of Engineering. In 2008, he left Facebook to co-found Asana with Justin Rosenstein. Asana went public in 2020, and Moskovitz stepped down as CEO in July 2025, transitioning to the role of board chair. His wealth largely comes from his stake in Meta and his holdings in Asana. In March 2011, Forbes reported Moskovitz to be the youngest self-made billionaire in history.
Key Business Strategies
Moskovitz's business strategy has been focused on building efficient and user-friendly software solutions. At Asana, he implemented practices like eliminating internal email communication to foster better collaboration. He has also invested heavily in Asana, purchasing more than $1.8 billion in shares since 2021.
Philanthropy
Moskovitz co-founded Good Ventures with his wife, Cari Tuna, in 2011. Good Ventures partners with GiveWell, focusing on effective altruism, and has donated billions to global health initiatives, criminal justice reform, and other causes. Moskovitz and his wife also signed the Giving Pledge, committing to donate most of their wealth to philanthropy. In 2023, Moskovitz, through Open Philanthropy, donated $900,000 to scientists in Africa, Asia, and South America to further study the impacts of climate change.
