David Humphreys is an heir to the Tamko roofing fortune, which was founded in 1944 by his grandfather, E. L. Craig. The company started in Joplin, Missouri. Humphreys' father, Jay Humphreys, encouraged him to pursue his own career interests. David attended law school and worked for firms in various locations before joining the family business.
Rise to Success
David Humphreys joined TAMKO as the company's first general counsel in 1989. He planned to learn the manufacturing and financial aspects of the business. He became the President and CEO in 1994, following his father's death. Under his leadership, TAMKO has become a major player in the residential roofing industry, with $1.2 billion in revenue in 2023.
