Early Life
David Hindawi was born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1944, to an Iraqi-Jewish family. In 1951, he moved to Israel, where he grew up and completed his early education. He later immigrated to the United States in 1970.
Rise to Success
After immigrating to the United States, Hindawi earned a Ph.D. in operations research from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1984, he founded Software Ventures, a telecommunications company, which was later sold in 1995. In 1997, he founded BigFix Inc, an IT systems management company, which was acquired by IBM for $400 million in 2010. In 2007, David co-founded the cybersecurity firm Tanium Inc, with his son, Orion Hindawi. Tanium's innovative peer-to-peer system for cybersecurity set it apart from competitors.
