Early Life
Danna Azrieli Hakim was born on June 3, 1967, in Montreal, Canada. She is the youngest daughter of David Azrieli, a prominent Canadian real estate developer, and Stephanie Lefcort. Her family immigrated to Israel in 2000. Danna is married to Dr. Eyal Hakim, a physician and medical researcher, and they have three children.
Rise to Success
Danna Azrieli's career is closely tied to the Azrieli Group, founded by her father. She became the Chairwoman of the Azrieli Group in 2014. Under her leadership, the company has expanded into new sectors, including e-commerce and data centers. She oversaw the construction of the Azrieli Sarona Tower. From 2014 to 2021, the Azrieli Group’s market capitalization increased from NIS 12 billion to NIS 37 billion. Danna has also been involved with Granite HaCarmel, Compass Holdco, and Green Mountain Data Centers. She authored the book "One Step Ahead", the story of her father's survival during the Holocaust.
Key Business Strategies
Azrieli's business strategies have included diversifying the company's real estate interests into the hotel sector and rental housing market. The group is focused on building mixed-use real estate projects. In 2016, the group announced its entry into the eCommerce sector with the acquisition of the eCommerce business and website of Buy2, which was rebranded as Azrieli.com. Azrieli Group acquired Green Mountain Data Centers in 2021.
Philanthropy
Danna Azrieli is the Chairwoman of the Azrieli Foundation (Israel) and a member of the Canadian Azrieli Foundation. The Azrieli Foundation supports various educational projects, universities, research institutes, medical centers, and hospitals. In 2004, she founded the Azrieli Empowerment Program. The Azrieli Foundation made a $100 million investment in health and biomedical research in 2020. In 2025, the Azrieli Foundation gave $10 million to the University of Haifa to establish the "Azrieli Advanced Nursing Center".
