Benoit Dageville

Early Life and Education

Benoit Dageville was born in Antibes, France, and his passion for databases began during his early career. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Université de Paris VI, focusing on parallel database systems.

Career and Rise to Success

Dageville began his career with Bull Information Systems. He then joined Oracle, where he spent 16 years as a lead architect in parallel execution for Oracle RAC and a key architect in the SQL Manageability group. During his time at Oracle, Dageville recognized the potential of cloud technology, leading him to co-found Snowflake in 2012 with Thierry Cruanes and Marcin Żukowski. Snowflake's cloud-based data platform quickly gained traction, and the company went public in 2020.

Dageville's deep technical expertise, particularly in parallel execution and database systems, was crucial in developing Snowflake's core technology.
