Early Life and Education
Beatriz Davila de Santo Domingo was born in Santa Marta, Colombia, on March 7, 1939. She pursued studies in Art and Decoration at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogotá. Her passion for the arts led her to co-found the Galería Deimos in Bogotá, alongside her friend Poly Mallarino. This initiative also established the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in La Candelaria, aiming to educate artisans and promote Colombian craftsmanship.
Rise to Success
In 1975, Beatriz married Julio Mario Santo Domingo, a union that significantly expanded her involvement in the family's business empire. The Santo Domingo family controlled a substantial portion of a Luxembourg-based holding company, which holds shares in Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the world's largest beer manufacturer. Following her husband's death in 2011, Beatriz took over the management of the family's extensive business interests. Her wealth is primarily from beer, stemming from her controlling interest in the Santo Domingo family's holdings. The family also holds stakes in Keurig Dr. Pepper, Kraft Heinz, and JDE Peet's, as well as the Château Pétrus wine estate.
