Early Life
Bang Si-hyuk was born in Seoul, South Korea, on August 9, 1972. He developed a passion for music early on, growing up in a musical family. Despite initial discouragement from his parents, who envisioned a different career path for him, he pursued his interest in music. Bang attended Kyunggi High School and later graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in aesthetics.

Bang's professional music career began in the 1990s. He worked as a songwriter and producer at JYP Entertainment. In 2005, he founded Big Hit Entertainment, which later became HYBE Corporation. A pivotal moment in his career was the formation of BTS in 2013. Bang assembled the group, wrote early material, and oversaw production. BTS's global success led to HYBE's expansion and acquisitions, including labels like Pledis and Source Music. In October 2020, HYBE went public, marking South Korea's largest IPO in three years. Philanthropy
Bang Si-hyuk has engaged in philanthropic activities. In October 2022, he donated 5 billion won (approximately $3.5 million) to the Community Chest of Korea. In February 2023, he donated 200 million won through Save the Children to aid in the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquakes. In March 2025, Bang donated 5 billion won (approximately $3.7 million) to Seoul National University for the construction of a new Cultural Center.
