Early Life
Bang Si-hyuk was born on August 9, 1972, in Seoul, South Korea. Growing up in a musical home, he developed a passion for music early on. Despite initial discouragement from his parents, he pursued his interest, forming a band and writing songs in middle school. He attended Kyunggi High School and later graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in aesthetics.
Rise to Success
Bang's career began in the mid-1990s. He met Park Jin-young, and they formed a successful songwriting duo. Bang joined JYP Entertainment as a composer, arranger, and producer. He worked with artists such as g.o.d, Rain, and the Wonder Girls. In 2005, Bang founded Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE Corporation). Under Big Hit, he signed RM, who would later become the leader of BTS. BTS debuted in 2013 and achieved global fame, propelling Bang to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

In February 2023, he contributed ₩200 million to aid the Turkey-Syria earthquake relief through Save the Children. In July 2025, Bang Si-hyuk donated ₩5 billion (~$3.7 million) to Seoul National University for the construction of a new cultural center. In June 2022, he donated ₩5 billion to support education for underprivileged girls.
