Early Life
Bambang Sutantio was born on December 26, 1958, in Semarang, Indonesia. He graduated from the Technical University of Berlin with a degree in food technology in 1984. After graduating, he started his career as a sales engineer for Fuehrmeister, a German industrial-equipment company, in Jakarta. This experience provided him with valuable insights into the food and beverage industry.
Rise to Success
In 1993, Sutantio founded PT Macroprima Panganutama, a meat processing company, starting from his family's garage. The company produced sausages under the Kanzler brand. In 2004, he established Cisarua Mountain Dairy (CMD), known as Cimory, with the goal of supporting dairy farmers in Cisarua. Cimory initially focused on producing fresh milk and yogurt. Bambang invested Rp1.12 billion (approximately $70,000 USD) in Cimory, holding a 60% stake. Cimory went public in December 2021.

Sutantio's business strategy involved creating high-quality products and supporting the local community. He established partnerships with dairy farmers in Cisarua, offering them prices 10% higher than market rates. Cimory expanded its product line to include yogurt and pasteurized milk. Cimory also ventured into the tourism sector by opening Dairyland, an educational tourism site.
