Early Life
Axel Stawski was born in the early 1950s in the United States to Jewish parents, Moniek and Zosia, who were Holocaust survivors. His father was a real estate developer in West Germany before the family emigrated to the U.S. in 1971. Stawski holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Birmingham, England, and a PhD in international law from New York University School of Law.
Rise to Success
In 1973, Stawski founded Stawski Partners, a real estate investment and development firm. The company owns several properties in Manhattan, including the notable 30-story 565 Fifth Avenue. Stawski is known for developing office buildings that emphasize design and detail. He has been recognized as a leading real estate investor, and his firm's focus on quality and strategic acquisitions has contributed to his success. In March 2022, he sold a residential tower project in Long Island City for $200 million.
Key Business Strategies
Stawski's key business strategy has been to focus on developing boutique buildings, paying close attention to design, and choosing corner lots to rebuild from the ground up. His focus on detail and design has helped attract and retain tenants, and the firm has benefited from the long-term appreciation of New York real estate.
Philanthropy
Stawski is a board member of the American Society for Yad Vashem. His philanthropic efforts aim to enhance the quality of life and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the communities where he operates.
