Early Life and Education
Alexander Leonidovich Mamut was born on January 29, 1960, in Moscow, Russia. He graduated from Moscow gymnasium #17 in 1977. His father was a lawyer and one of the authors of the Russian Constitution, and his mother was a defense attorney. Mamut graduated from Moscow State University with a law degree in 1982.
Rise to Success
Mamut's career began as a legal advisor. In 1990, he co-founded the "Business and Cooperation" Bank, later renamed Commercial Bank "Imperial." He established the law firm ALM-Consulting in the same year, serving as Managing Partner until 1993. Over the years, Mamut has been involved in many business ventures, including investments in banking, insurance, media, and retail. He gained prominence as an advisor to Boris Yeltsin.

Mamut has been known for buying and reselling assets, often taking minority stakes in various companies.
