Vasily Anisimov

Early Life

Vasily Anisimov was born on September 19, 1951, in Almaty, Kazakh SSR. He graduated from the Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy in 1977 with a degree in economics. His early career involved roles in the Kalinin Nuclear Power Station and Moscow Roskhoztorga.

Rise to Success

Anisimov's entrepreneurial journey began in the late 1980s during the Perestroika era. He founded the Trust company in 1989, which later became Trustconsult, involved in exporting non-ferrous metals. In 1994, he established Coalco, a real estate development company, and began acquiring shares in aluminum plants. Anisimov was a co-owner of Metalloinvest, a major Russian mining and metallurgy company.

Key Business Strategies

Anisimov's business strategies included identifying opportunities in the transitioning Russian economy and diversifying investments. He focused on the metals industry initially, later shifting to real estate development through Coalco, with projects in Moscow and other cities. He has shown a knack for identifying high-potential investment opportunities. Anisimov sold his shares in Metalloinvest in 2011. In 2022, he renounced his Russian citizenship and now holds Croatian citizenship.

Philanthropy

Anisimov is actively involved in philanthropy, particularly with the Russian Orthodox Church. He has overseen the restoration of numerous churches. He also supported the Russian Judo Federation and was its president from 2010 to 2022.
