Early Life
Prayudh Mahagitsiri was born on December 1, 1945, in Bangkok, Thailand. His grandfather emigrated from southern China and began trading foodstuffs before importing Japanese-made tuk-tuks. Prayudh earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of San Diego in the United States.
Rise to Success
Mahagitsiri's journey to becoming a billionaire began with securing the exclusive rights to distribute Nescafé in Thailand. This venture led to the establishment of Quality Coffee Products Co. Ltd, a long-standing joint venture with Nestlé. Beyond coffee, he diversified into shipping by acquiring stakes in Thoresen Thai Agencies (TTA), a regional shipping company. His strategic investments also included the steel industry through Thainox Stainless, the largest stainless steel manufacturer in Southeast Asia.
Key Business Strategies
Mahagitsiri's business acumen is reflected in his PM Group, which has interests in property development, entertainment, industrial and consumer manufacturing, and food and beverage. The PM Group's F&B arm owns franchises like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Krispy Kreme. Mahagitsiri's son, Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, is the CEO of TTA. He also has interests in steel, copper, shipping, offshore drilling, and property development. However, in December 2024, Quality Coffee Products' joint venture with Nestlé was terminated.
Philanthropy
Prayudh Mahagitsiri's philanthropic endeavors include donating funds on behalf of the Prayudh-Suvimol Foundation to the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) for academic purposes, as well as providing charitable donations to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. He also provided financial assistance to society during the COVID-19 Pandemic, amounting to a total of $4 million.
