Early Life and Education
Per Sandberg was born in Levanger, Norway, on February 6, 1960. Sandberg had a challenging upbringing, and after finishing Upper Secondary School, he held numerous different jobs including as a bartender and waiter at a Ski resort in Ustaoset, and later as a process operator at Norske Skog Skogn from 1982 to 1997, where he became the local trade union representative.
Political Career
Sandberg entered politics in 1987 as a local politician and later became a member of the Norwegian Parliament. He served as the Minister of Fisheries from 2015 to 2018 and briefly as the acting Minister of Justice, Public Security, and Immigration. Sandberg was also the first deputy leader of the Progress Party from 2006 to 2018. He was a member of the Norwegian parliament from 1997 to 2017.
Business Ventures and Recent Activities
Sandberg has been involved in various business ventures. He has recently been involved in a relationship and business partnership with a Vietnamese woman, with whom he plans to open an oriental medicine center in Vietnam. Sandberg has also been reported to own the family-owned investment company Sandberg Development, focusing on water technology, quality of life, and security, and is also a major shareholder in the pharmaceutical company Camurus. He also owns Aimpoint, the world leader in red dot sights.
Controversies
Sandberg has been involved in some controversies. In 1997 he was convicted of assault and battery of an asylum seeker. His trip to Iran with his then-girlfriend also caused a stir and led to scrutiny of his actions and associations.
