Louis Moore Bacon was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 25, 1956. His father founded a real estate company, providing a foundation for Bacon's later success. Bacon attended Episcopal High School and Middlebury College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Literature in 1979. He furthered his education with an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School in 1981.
Rise to Success
After graduating from Columbia, Bacon started his career at Bankers Trust. He later traded currencies at Walter N. Frank & Co.. In 1987, Bacon founded Remington Trading Partners. His astute market insights enabled him to profit during the 1987 market crash. Bacon founded Moore Capital Management in 1989, which became a prominent hedge fund firm. Bacon's firm returned capital to external investors in November 2019 but continued to manage internal funds.
