Early Life and Education
Sami Mnaymneh was born on July 13, 1961. He earned a B.A. degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Columbia University, graduating first in his class in 1981. Mnaymneh furthered his education by receiving a J.D. degree and an M.B.A. degree, with honors, from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, respectively.
Rise to Success
Mnaymneh's career began at Morgan Stanley in the Mergers and Acquisitions department, and later as a Managing Director at Blackstone. In 1993, Mnaymneh co-founded H.I.G. Capital with Tony Tamer. Under their leadership, H.I.G. Capital has become a global alternative investment firm with approximately $69 billion of capital under management, specializing in providing both debt and equity capital to middle-market companies. Mnaymneh has overseen the firm's growth, directing its development and approving all capital commitments. Prior to founding H.I.G., Mnaymneh was a Managing Director with The Blackstone Group in New York. Earlier in his career, he was a vice president in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley & Co., where he focused on leveraged buyouts and served as a senior advisor to a number of prominent private equity firms.
