Peter Cancro's journey began in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, where he started working at Mike's Subs at the age of 14. He quickly developed a passion for the business and learned the ins and outs of the sandwich shop.
Rise to Success
In 1975, at the age of 17, Cancro saw an opportunity to own the business. He secured a $125,000 loan from his football coach and purchased the single-store shop. Cancro renamed the shop Jersey Mike's and started franchising in 1987. His vision and dedication led to rapid growth, with the brand expanding across the United States. Cancro prioritized fresh ingredients and a customer-focused approach, setting Jersey Mike's apart from competitors.
