Patterson's professional journey began with roles at Silver Point Capital and Goldman Sachs. He later co-founded HPS Investment Partners, where he currently serves as a Senior Managing Director in the Private Financing Solutions (PFS) Executive Office. HPS Investment Partners has $149 billion in assets under management, and he leads the Direct Lending platform. Patterson's leadership has been instrumental in the firm's success, overseeing specialty lending, corporate lending, and core senior lending funds. HPS was sold to BlackRock in July 2025 for around $12 billion in BlackRock stock.
