Early Life
Joseph Baratta was born in Sacramento, California. He graduated from Jesuit High School in the Sacramento area in 1989 and earned a degree from Georgetown University in 1993, graduating magna cum laude.
Rise to Success
Baratta joined Blackstone in 1998. In 2001, he moved to London to establish Blackstone's corporate private equity business in Europe. He became a Senior Managing Director in 2004 and was named Global Head of Private Equity in July 2012. He has led some of Blackstone's most successful investments, including SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Merlin Entertainments, and Center Parcs. Before joining Blackstone, Baratta worked for investment firms Tinicum Incorporated and McCown De Leeuw & Company and in the mergers and acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley.
