Early Life
Giuseppe Crippa was born in Robbiate, Italy, on May 5, 1935. Growing up during World War II, he attended a technical high school and later started his career at Breda, an engineering firm. In 1960, at the age of 25, he began working at SGS, a semiconductor company, later known as STMicroelectronics (STM). He was sent to Silicon Valley to learn about semiconductor technology, contributing to the launch of the first silicon transistor production line in Europe.
Rise to Success
In 1989, Crippa founded Technoprobe with his son, Cristiano, while still employed at STMicroelectronics. They started producing probe cards, essential for testing microchips, initially operating from his garage and attic. In 1995, after 35 years, Crippa retired from STM and dedicated himself full-time to Technoprobe. The company expanded internationally, opening offices in France, Singapore, and the United States. Technoprobe went public on the Euronext Milan in February 2022.
Key Business Strategies
Crippa's success stems from his invention and focus on high-quality probe cards. His commitment to innovation and building a strong team led to Technoprobe's global expansion and market leadership. The company's technological advancements, including the development of the TPEG™ MEMS technology, have set industry standards.
Philanthropy
The Mariarosa and Giuseppe Crippa Foundation was established in May 2023 to provide structure to the philanthropic activities of Technoprobe and the Crippa family, focusing on areas such as education, vocational training, and community support. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Technoprobe provided spaces and resources for a vaccination hub, administering 160,000 doses in six months.
