Early Life
Doug Ostrover was born in New York City and grew up in Franklin Township, New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School with a degree in Economics and later received an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
Rise to Success
Ostrover began his career at E.F. Hutton in the industrial revenue bonds department. He then joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in 1992, becoming a Managing Director in charge of High Yield and Distressed Sales, Trading, and Research. When DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), he became the Chairman of the Leveraged Finance Group and Global Co-Head of the Leveraged Finance Group. In 2005, Ostrover co-founded GSO Capital Partners, Blackstone's alternative credit platform, where he was a Senior Managing Director until 2015. In 2016, Ostrover co-founded Owl Rock Capital, which merged with Dyal Capital to form Blue Owl Capital, taking the company public in 2021. He currently serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Blue Owl Capital Inc. and the chairman of the firm's board of directors.
