Early Life and Education
Dmitry Vladimirovich Kamenshchik was born on April 26, 1968, in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), Russia. Little is known about his early life. He graduated from the Sociological Faculty of Moscow State University with a degree in Economic Sociology and later earned a PhD in Economics from the same university. Kamenshchik served in the Soviet Army from 1986 to 1988.
Rise to Success
Kamenshchik's career began in the early 1990s when he became the main Moscow representative of East Line, an air transportation company. He acquired Domodedovo Airport in 1996, transforming it into a modern aviation hub. Under his leadership, Domodedovo became one of the busiest airports in Eastern Europe, attracting numerous international airlines and handling millions of passengers. He invested over $1.5 billion in the airport over a decade, making it the largest in the country by the mid-2000s.
