Early Life
Alakh Pandey was born on October 2, 1991, in Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India. His family faced financial constraints during his childhood, which instilled in him the importance of education and a strong work ethic. He started tutoring younger students in the 9th grade to contribute to his family's income. By the 11th grade, he was already giving demo classes at coaching centers.
Rise to Success
Pandey's journey took a significant turn in 2016 when he launched the YouTube channel "Physics Wallah – Alakh Pandey." Initially, it was a small venture, but his clear explanations and relatable approach to physics quickly resonated with students. His channel provided free and quality physics and chemistry lectures in Hindi, which made his videos a sensation. The real explosion came in 2018 when he launched the Physics Wallah app. His platform became a digital classroom for students as online learning became popular during the pandemic. In August 2022, Physics Wallah hit unicorn status, valued at $1.1 billion. By September 2024, the company raised another $210 million, shooting its valuation up to $2.8 billion.
